Honey’s Angels officially has a new little sister… Sienna has arrived!
Willow and Meadow’s sister is finally here, and I am so excited to introduce another tiny orchid princess to the family. Sienna is delicate, pink, white, floral, and already giving full little diva energy.
All three of my girls — Willow, Meadow, and Sienna — are i3 orchid mantis nymphs. That means they are still babies, but they have already gone through a few early molts as they grow into their next stages.
For anyone new to the mantis world, i3 means the mantis is in its third instar. An instar is basically a growth stage between molts. So when an orchid mantis hatches, it starts as i1. After its first molt, it becomes i2. After the next molt, it becomes i3. Every molt brings them closer to adulthood, and with orchid mantises, each stage makes them look even more beautiful, detailed, and flower-like.
At this stage, they are still very small and fragile, so I am being extra careful with humidity, feeding, and handling. Orchid mantis nymphs may look like tiny pieces of living jewelry, but they are still babies who need a lot of gentle care.
Seeing Willow, Meadow, and now Sienna together feels like the beginning of my little orchid mantis dream collection. Each one already has her own personality, her own look, and her own little way of posing like she knows she is the main character.
Willow is still my original girl, Meadow brought even more sweetness into the mix, and now Sienna has completed the trio — at least for now. I cannot wait to watch all three girls grow, molt, and blossom into their full orchid mantis beauty.
