Breeder Spotlight: Meet Jessica of The Crustacean Corner

Cherry Blossom Isopods - The Crustacean Corner

The wonderful breeder behind my beautiful Cherry Blossom isopods 💕

If you’ve been following Honey’s Pretty Little Creatures, then you already know that I have fallen completely in love with the tiny worlds living inside my enclosures. 🌿💕 And of all the little creatures I’ve welcomed into my collection, my Cherry Blossom isopods have become especially close to my heart.

But behind every beautiful little colony is a breeder who puts in the time, care, patience, and love to make sure those animals are healthy and thriving — and today I want to introduce you to the woman behind mine:
Jessica, owner of The Crustacean Corner. 🌸🦐✨

“Generous quality cultures!”

— Jessica, The Crustacean Corner

🌿 It All Started With a Terrarium…

Jessica’s journey into breeding actually began with another hobby entirely: creating terrariums.

While building her terrariums, she kept running into one frustrating problem — finding genuinely booming cultures of springtails. Instead of settling for tiny, underwhelming cultures, Jessica decided to solve the problem herself.

She began sourcing and breeding her own springtails so she would always have a healthy supply available for her terrariums — while also being able to offer generous, quality cultures to other keepers.

And then came the isopods. 😍

Once Jessica discovered just how many incredible varieties of isopods existed, things snowballed from there.

🌸 🦐 🌿 💕 🌿 🦐 🌸

“It’s like they say, ‘Gotta Catch them all’!”

And honestly? Every isopod collector understands exactly how that happens. You tell yourself you’re getting one species… and suddenly you’re looking at twenty different varieties wondering where you’re going to put another enclosure. 😂💕

🌸 My Cherry Blossom Babies

My own introduction to Jessica came through one of the prettiest additions to my collection: my Cherry Blossom isopods. 🌸

They fit perfectly into the world of Honey’s Pretty Little Creatures — tiny, unusual, beautiful, and of course… pink. 💗

What stood out to me wasn’t only how beautiful the isopods were. It was the care behind them. When you’re purchasing living creatures, especially tiny invertebrates, you’re putting a lot of trust in the person on the other side of that package.

A responsible breeder matters.

Jessica emphasizes generous counts and is happy to provide quality care information when customers need help. That kind of support is especially valuable for someone getting into isopods for the first time — because receiving the animals should only be the beginning of the relationship between a keeper and a good breeder. 🌿

👑 A Little Honey Note

I love supporting breeders who genuinely care about the little creatures they’re sending into the world. 💕 Healthy animals, generous cultures, helpful information, and someone you can actually reach out to with questions make such a difference.

💕 Meet Jessica

In Jessica’s own words:

“My name is Jessica, owner of The Crustacean Corner. What sparked my interest in breeding isopods came from my hobby of creating terrariums.”

“I had the most difficult time trying to find booming cultures of springtails. So, I decided to source my own and breed them. This way I could always have a supply on hand to use as well as have some to offer to others. And not just little dinky cultures. Generous quality cultures!”

“Well from there I discovered all of the different types of isopods. And next thing ya know, here we are! It’s like they say, ‘Gotta Catch them all’!”

“I always provide generous counts and quality care information if needed. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Thank you for stopping by!”

I think her story is such a perfect example of how some of the best small businesses begin: someone sees a problem in their own hobby, decides to do it better, and eventually starts sharing what they’ve learned with everybody else. ✨

🌸 Small Creatures, Big Love

One of my favorite parts of getting deeper into this hobby has been discovering the people behind these tiny creatures.

There is an entire community of breeders and keepers quietly dedicating an incredible amount of time to animals that most people might walk right past without ever noticing. And then there are people like us who look at a tiny pink isopod and immediately think,
“Oh my God. I need her.” 😂🌸

My Cherry Blossoms have brought another little bit of happiness into my growing collection, and I’m so glad that finding them also introduced me to Jessica and The Crustacean Corner.

🌸💕 Thank you, Jessica! 💕🌸

For caring for these beautiful little creatures, helping other keepers succeed, and for sending some very special Cherry Blossom babies into Honey’s Pretty Little Creatures.

Stay pretty. Stay curious. Love the little creatures. 👑🌸
