Meet Willow: The Baddest Orchid Mantis On The Block

Late last night — or maybe very early this morning — something magical happened in the Honey house: Willow had her second molt. At first, I honestly thought it was Xander, but now that she is getting bigger, I can officially confirm it… my beautiful female orchid mantis is Willow. 💕

And let me just say, she is already giving attitude. Notice how she’s posing like the baddie she is in the first image. She knows exactly who she is.

Her pink is slowly starting to show, too — you can really notice it in the second and third images. I am obsessed. She’s still so delicate and tiny, but every molt makes her look more and more like the little walking flower she was always meant to be. And look at her posing in the first picture, my baby knows that she’s cute!

I truly did not think I would be this into this hobby. I never really liked bugs or insects, but orchid mantises are completely different. They literally look like walking flowers. They’re elegant, strange, beautiful, and kind of unreal.

White orchids have been my favorite flower for years, and pink has always been my favorite color, so it honestly feels like orchid mantises were made for me. Willow is the perfect little mix of soft, pretty, and secretly fierce — which is obviously very on brand.

I can’t wait to watch her grow and see more of her colors come in. Every tiny change feels so exciting, and I’m already so attached to her.

And since we’re talking about pretty little creatures… I have a tiny sneak peek. A new pretty little creature will be joining the Honey family next week. I’m not saying what it is yet, because I want to wait until it arrives and can be formally introduced.

But trust me… it’s going to be adorable. 💋
